Deer Season

I am married to a hunter. He wasn't really a hunter when we met but converted that way after moving to West Plains. The fact that he's a hunter is perfectly ok with me...he isn't in to sports so this is really his hobby. I even get excited about deer season because I like the meat! He killed 2 small deer last weekend and a big fat doe today. Proud of my little hunter! He saved his money and bought a new gun so he was pumped to use it.

I even went with him. Here's a few pictures. I'll spare you the one of his gutting it!

We’ll Sleep When We’re Dead

This seems to be the going saying at our house between Kody & I. Wait, I’m the only one ever home, so this is what we email/text.

First I will say, he doesn’t like me to blog about him much. I feel like documenting this part of our lives because it’s really been an important part.

He has been spending 5+ nights a week at school doing math/speech/English/etc. Math is ALMOST, ALMOST over and we’re praising our GOOD LORD!! It was all supposed to be done last night but he has until this weekend to take the final.

I’m home alone a lot. I go to the gym a lot by myself after work, or I work late. I don’t mind and I enjoy my time. However, with that being said I have to say what a ROCKSTAR KT is. I’m in bed most nights when he gets home—around 10:30. So we only see each other in the mornings awake for about 10 minutes. He comes in and tells me goodnight when he gets home and then often does more homework/work stuff until midnight.

He’s now part of the leadership team at work and is shining there. I’m SO proud of him and thankful for what all he is doing.

Like I said in a previous post, this is a season of our lives. We must embrace the gift God has given us. Wake up, work, SMILE, do good, and go home and then do it all again.

What’s your biggest challenge these days?

Day trip…local wineries

The first Saturday in July Kody and I ventured out to Mountain View, which is very close and went to a few wineries we’d been hearing about. I’m almost embarrassed I’m JUST NOW blogging about this, but it was a fun day that I definitely want to remember.

First stop, Viandel Vineyard. It was beautiful and I didn’t even feel like we were in Mountain View…which is a tiny town with not much going on.

Isn’t it a cute little place? We took snacks, bought a couple of glasses of wine and took home a bottle to enjoy. We both love wine, especially Missouri wines and learning about the different kinds. The owners are sweethearts and we can’t wait to go back.

We ventured on into Mountain View to ‘antique’ or ‘junk’ as some people call it. No luck finding anything cool. We then headed back towards West Plains and stopped at Horst Winery. It was a neat place and the owner was a really nice guy. Again, we pulled out our snacks, bought a couple glasses of wine and a bottle to take home. At this point we were very impressed with the quality of both wineries and their wine.

The last place we stopped at on our way home was Traver Winery. It was not as neat, atmosphere wise, but fun to visit. Most of the wine was all very sweet, which we’re not big fans of. We did find one bottle we liked and took it home.

I’m thankful we live in a place where we have fun daytrips all around us. It was a fun day just Kody & I. We didn’t make it to Hermann this fall so we may have to take another daytrip back to Mountain View!

Any time spent with Kody is precious, and these days it’s been VERY few and far between. I hate that this fun day was all the way back in July! Crazy how time FLIES!!
