5 Question Friday!

It’s been awhile since I’ve done this, but I loved today’s questions. We are getting Hurricane Isaac remnants today, so it will be raining all day and probably all day tomorrow. We need it, we’ve had serious drought conditions this summer!

1. What do you enjoy doing the most with your spouse?

This is tough. I enjoy so many things about KT. I’d say the best is how goofy we really are just sitting at home. He constantly is making me laugh and that’s so good for my soul.

2. How do you eat your taco? From the top or from the side?

I’m a side-to-side girl!

3. Have you ever shut off the basement light and ran like a fool because you knew someone was down there and would get you?

Seriously? I do this probably 3 times a day. I used to LOVE Follow that Bird, which is a Sesame Street movie. On there Big Bird gets adopted and his ‘adoption agent’ or whatever you want to call her is Miss Finch. The scariest bird I’ve ever seen! She was mean and I still see her face when I go up stairs at night!! I’m a total FREAK!!

4. If you could change one thing about you what would it be and why?

I would like to be about 4 inches taller. If I had longer legs they wouldn’t appear to be fat stumps!

5. What age do you think is appropriate to have the "bird and the bees" talk with your children?

I’d say whenever they become curious. No need to sugar coat or lie to them beforehand. I was probably a 5th grader…I’d also say when they hit puberty. Need to know what happens…

Girls Weekend

The weekend after our trip to Jackson we found ourselves on our way back over there just for a more calm, relaxing weekend. We got to town a little before 8 and the guys (Kody, John, Luke, & Kyle) headed to Kentucky Lake….and Teresa, Kaci, Lily and I held down the fort in Jackson! I hate traveling back-to-back weekends because I feel like I get nothing accomplished but I was SO looking forward to this weekend with the girls. It was much needed. :)

Friday night we just ate and sat around the house and watched the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics….I got to love on Lily and play with her awhile before she went to bed. :)

Saturday I slept in a little and then went to Cape to shop for awhile. I was in the mood to spend money, which never happens, so I had to be careful with myself! ha! I also got to meet Ashley Lancaster for lunch at Cup & Cork. We had a lovely visit and it’s so crazy to think we only know each other through our blogs!! So crazy!! She is such a sweet person, inside and out…and has 2 of the cutest kids ever!

Afterwards I went to a new store downtown Cape called Philanthropy…Oh MY word! When I walked in they were jamming to my favorite praise music and had the CUTEST stuff! Clothes, jewelry, and home decor! They have redone the front of this old building on Broadway and it looks great! I got a big cross for our wall made out of sticks. I could have bought everything in the store. Can’t wait to go back!!

After Philanthropy I ran to Hobby Lobby and then back to Jackson to meet up with the girls. I spent a little time in the pool and then we all had dinner together.

We had a great time and the guys were back the next day mid afternoon and we headed home right then. I love Kody’s ‘girls’ in his family, very lucky to have them.

A little catch-up….Summer Engagement Party

I have got to get a grip on blogging and get back into the swing of things. Where has time gone? ;) Let’s back up to July 21st.

July 20th we headed to Jackson after work for a weekend of family and celebrating Kody’s cousin BJ and his fiancĂ©, Jodie. They got engaged last fall but it is tradition for the aunts/uncles to throw the ‘cousins’ a couple’s shower in the family…well Jodie wanted an engagement party instead so that’s what Kody’s mom threw. She pulled out all of the stops as well. There were over 100 people invited so even though their house is no small shack, they had to rent tents so there would be more room because it was hot out.

023022Kody and Luke were in charge of picking up guests along the streets in the golf cart. We all may or may not have had quite a bit of fun on the cart and all around the Bent Creek subdivision!025

We had a fun time. The wedding is right around our anniversary and in the Smokey Mountains so we are not going to be able to go. We hate that, but at least we celebrated with them in Jackson!

While we were there this little Missy also was present and turned 3 months old….056  061 063 065 068 069 070

Sorry for the lack of pictures…I’m not a proud, boasting aunt or anything. Love you Lily!!!

26 Years YOUNG…

Today, I’m 26! This is actually the first birthday that I’m just not sure about. I mean 26 sounds so much older than 25, you aren’t in your early-to-mid 20’s anymore, I’m more in that mid-to-late 20’s, which means 30 is creeping around the corner. Blah. I wanted to turn 25 and stay there forever.

I’m a goal setter through and through. I like to set goals and achieve them, I mean who doesn’t? I think one reason 26 is like a little thorn in my side is because I haven’t met some of my goals yet.

I just knew by the time I would turn 26 this year I would either have a baby to help celebrate with me or be pregnant. I have neither. And you know what? It does bother me just a little, but then I got to thinking…

I truly am blessed beyond measures. I have SO much for someone who is 26, so much more than other people my age or even other people older than me.

I am married to God’s chosen pick for me. KT is truly my life partner.

I have a phenomenal job. This was the first year I had to work on my birthday without taking a vacation day. You know what? It’s been an awesome day. I’ve had a blast. I love going to work every day, some of my best friends are here.

I have a fun, loving family…on both sides of our tree!

I have an incredible church family and wonderful friends. When we first moved here we barely had friends. We now have more friends than we know what to do with. Praise the Lord!

I have a great home, car, and 2 dogs that love me more than life itself.

So no, I don’t have a baby to love on today. But that’s ok. There’s plenty of time for that. Today is about ME and I will be selfish!! (KT would probably say how is that any different from other days…)

I am good. God is good. 26 will be good.

Here’s the picture my Mom posted this morning on her Facebook page. I was about 2 here…a mere 24 years ago. I still love a good popsicle, still have the same blue eyes, still have the same brown hair, but do wear shirts when I’m outside now. ;)

25 was great…learned a lot about myself and watched my marriage really grow…but I have a feeling 26 will be MY year!

Currently…

I’m copying off my friend Ashley and will do a little rendition of what’s going on in my life currently.
Loving…
My sweet KT. We have had the best summer together. We’ve spent a lot of time together doing fun things, it’s been a busy summer, but a great one with my husband. With our life struggles lately he has proven to be more of a man than I ever dreamed of. I even said the other day to him, “I love the man I married, but I love the man I am married to now so much more.” We are stitched together and what love has tethered, I pray we never undo.

Reading…
The Duggars: 20 and Counting!
It’s a great read! Very easy too. I know we’ll never have 19+ kids, but these two actually have a handle on what they teach their children. First and foremost they teach their children to love the Lord more than themselves, which is so important. I’ve learned great parenting tricks from this book and we don’t even have kids yet!
Waiting For…
Fall! I am loving summer so much, but let’s get real. I don’t have much time at all to spend by the pool getting my tan on like I’d like to. And it’s been so hot lately that I don’t want to be out doing anything. Once it cools off I’m ready for…Golf, football games, bonfires, s’mores, our anniversary, pretty leaves, a routine…etc! On the routine, I feel like even though we don’t have kids and I’m not a student, my whole life has been this school year routine. I am looking forward to getting back on track once the school year begins. (That sounds so weird because my life really won’t change any…)
Excited About…
A weekend with no plans!! We’ve been out of town for 3 weekends in a row and then last weekend although we were home we were super busy! My mother-in-law is coming tonight so I’m also excited she will be here to spend my birthday with!
Missing…
The days of summer when I spent every day, all day at the pool. I love, love, love this chapter of my life but at times wish I could be an adult with no job! ;)
Trying To…
There’s a lot of things I’m trying to do….but probably the one I want to write about is getting and staying organized at work. 2 big deals! I have a new job, not sure if I’ve even blogged about that, but it’s a new title to what I was already doing. I just have to keep it all straight.
Working on…
Changing things up a bit in our house. We plan to be in our house probably another 3 years and I’m just kind of tired of the way it looks now. I’ve slowly been buying new things to sit around and just ‘change it up’ a little. I got a few new frames at TJ Maxx that I’m overly obsessed with.
Enjoying…
My last day as a 25 year old! I’ve never thought of a birthday as a blah thing, and I’m not really thinking that about my birthday tomorrow…but I just really loved 25. I learned a lot about myself, watched my marriage grow into something more, and expanded my relationship with the Lord. 26 will be just as good, I’m sure! If not better!
Using…
My new phone! I love it!! I’m a techie at heart and it’s just incredible. It’s the Samsung Galaxy 3s. It’s white and so cute!!!
Watching…
DALLAS!
The season finale is on tomorrow night, what a birthday treat!! It’s quite the show!
Planning…
A golf tournament for work. We’re raising money for a Christmas party…as a government entity we cannot use citizen’s tax dollars on stuff like that. So we’re hitting the streets raising money for this tournament. I’m having a ball doing it.
Singing…
A few of my favorites right now…
Phill Vassar: Don't Miss Your Life
Justin Moore: Till My Last Day
Gloriana: Good Night
Jason Aldean: Fly Over States
Needing…
To get a lot of work done this week so I can take it easy next week on my busy week of the month!
Learning…
We’re learning about the book of James by Max Lucado. I love his studies. I also love the name James. :)
Listening…
To my air conditioner vent and my heater running. Yes, I’m crazy. But I get chilly inside here!
Wishing…
Wishing 26 will surpass 25 and be my best year yet. I have so much hope for this year, I just hope I’m not let down too much!
Doing…
A lot. Reading, editing pictures, taking an online photography class, work, being a wife, etc. Life is crazy!
Praying for…
Praying for our troops, the primary election today, a baby, blog friends who have sick kids, my family, etc.
Dreaming of…
70 degree weather and a good golf game in the sun. I can’t wait to play more this fall with KT.
