2 Days…

In 2 days I will get to see this. I’ve never felt the need for a vacation more in my life! Life has been 150% CRAZY in the last 6-8 months. I am SO SO SO ready for things to s-l-o-w down. With Kody’s classes, both of our jobs, church, obligations outside the house, inside the house work I just feel like I want to run away and hide (somewhere tropical) for oh let’s say, 5 months.

I really feel like this vacation will mean 2 things. Me being a complete BUM, sitting out on the beach, reading and time with family that we haven’t gotten to see much lately because we have been so busy (them too.).

I’m trying to read quickly Not My Daughter so I can move on to another book. Problem is I don’t make time to read much anymore so I may be reading that at the beach or putting it on hold. I’m not so sure about reading with my iPad out on the beach. Plus, it doesn’t have the glare free screen like the Kindle and Nook. But it’s still pretty sweet!

I’ve slacked a lot lately on this blog because I’ve been SO busy and I just don’t feel like I have much to write about. You all know where our life is right now and I don’t really want to keep beating that in the ground. Ah!

We’ve been physically and mentally exhausted for oh say, 2 months now, so we’re both hoping this vacation is just what we need to feel refreshed and rejuvenated! I promise I will get back to being regular after vacation! I’m learning to say NO, sorry I am too busy and can’t help you with that. It’s not easy, but I’m learning.

Any good books to recommend? I only like stuff that can happen in real life….I know, no imagination here! Y’all have a great week! I hope to show off my sweet niece Lily tomorrow sometime with all of her pictures I took.

What a difference a year makes

I should have written a post about my amazing mom and mother-in-law, but I didn’t. Regardless of what I didn’t write, they are both incredible mothers and are so good to Kody and I. We are forever grateful they are such a huge part of our lives. Much of what we do we owe to them.

I have been thinking lately about what our life was like this time last year. A year ago yesterday I sent an email to Kody’s now boss about how he was unhappy in his then current job and was thinking about banking. He replied back and wanted to meet with him. Literally our lives changed with that email. Everything happened so fast but I can’t stop and thank God enough for doing this HUGE life switch for us. After seeing all we’ve been through I know now he couldn’t have helped me out if he would have been stuck in his old job. (God knows what he’s doing) He lost 60…yes 60 pounds last year around this time by working out and eating healthier. We’re both on a roll still! We love to work out now! He looks completely different, has a completely different job, and has more self-esteem than I’ve ever seen in him! He has grown leaps and pounds physically, mentally, and spiritually. I feel like we’re in the prime time of our lives right now. I’m so proud to be his wife. This man used to be reserved and now he will stand up and speak at church, help lead Sunday School, talk in networking opportunities, and just all around he’s more social.

Just like what I said above God knows what he’s doing. I know our struggle to get pregnant is for a reason, and some days that’s easier for me to remember than others. If anything here lately I’ve enjoyed my one-on-one time with KT so much. We’re having so much fun and I know that’s not always easy with a baby. It’s almost like we’re dating again. We’ve forgotten responsibilities around the house (whoops) and just go do fun stuff whenever we want. So in this storm, I will praise God for the time I have alone with KT, the spontaneous dates we’re able to have, and hold onto the faith I have that it will happen some day.

What are you thankful for today?

The Best Day

Today was seriously the best day! I wanted to sleep in but the dogs started barking early and while we ignored them for awhile, once Kody got up he pretty much didn’t leave me a choice but to get up. I was grouchy and had a little headache, but we needed to go get a tiller to finish tilling our garden. We tilled it awhile back and then didn’t plant quick enough and weeds started growing.

Kody’s idea was to go get the tiller and play a few holes of golf. I thought we should get our work done first, but finally agreed. Glad I did! We picked up the tiller from a co-worker/friend of mine and then went to the course. We played 4 holes for about an hour and a half. Neither one of us have played golf in a long time…Me longer than Kody. We joined the course thinking it would be something we could do together. Well, I’m so glad we did! We aren’t awful for not playing in so long and we had so much fun! We stopped and had some lunch and then headed home. IMG952012051295110034

I took my clubs home to clean and so I did that while Kody started tilling. I got done and started planting our 24 tomato plants and then the okra. We accumulated 8 plants from a friend, but bought the rest. We didn’t realize how many we had! Fun! After the okra I planted zucchini and squash. Kody planed green beans and then we were done! He’s still going to plant corn but we were done for the day. We cleaned up…you should have seen me, and then headed back to town to play a few more holes of golf.

All done!!!

We ended up playing another 5 holes. I actually got some really good shots in. We just had so much fun! Last weekend Kody worked on a friend’s car ALL WEEKEND, so I’m thrilled we had today to do whatever we wanted whenever we wanted. I’m thankful for my time with KT! We had a little dinner at El Charro’s and will turn in early tonight! Mother’s Day church tomorrow!

I’ve spent all weekend out at the course. Yesterday was a really fun day too. I’m a Chamber Ambassador and the Chamber golf tournament was going on. I helped out and while it was work, it was fun work and it was a gorgeous day out! We ate dinner on the patio and laughed, a lot!  With just a big group of friends and some randoms!

We leave for  vacation in 2 weeks! I’m excited, ready for some sun, sand, and good food. Kody and I are going all the way on Friday so we’ll get there a day earlier. Looking forward to seeing Lily again!!!!

I love weekends, especially fun ones!!!!

Five Question Friday

5questionFriday
I’m also linking up with Five Crooked Halos for 5 Question Friday! I thought they were fun questions for the day!
1. What did you wear to prom? Include a picture if possible.
Oh prom! Memories!! I had the pleasure of helping plan our junior prom and then senior prom was a blast…even with a broken arm! It was a huge devastation at the time, but looking back I just laugh. I loved my prom dresses and would still wear them to this day. However I’ve only been out of school 7/8 years so they aren’t too dated. I could only find digital files from senior year. I saw the dress in a magazine and had our dress shop order it. I loved it! It was a Jessica McClintock white mermaid dress with a black satin bow around the waste. I wore black gloves and had a black cast to match my gloves. Kody went to junior and senior prom with me. :) The bottom photo is so cheesy, but I still love it. They both were taken at the Opera House where we our reception was 4 years later! We love to dance whether it's something like prom, wedding receptions, benefits, etc. So I have fond memories of prom!

2. Would you rather be on the biggest loser or a food eating challenge?
I’d rather be on a food eating challenge. I could always get full and lose that….I can’t imagine being on Biggest Loser. I’d die.

3. Done fave sonic drink? Refreshing summer drink?
I love them all…but especially Lemon Berry Slush and Strawberry Limeade Slushes
4. What was your first car, and what did you call it?
Ha! My first car was a 1996 Red Pontiac Sunfire. I loved it and it was a 5 speed fun to drive…only problem was that got me in a little trouble and I totaled it 3 months after turning 16. Mine looked just like this except it was not a convertible.

5. What's one thing your child or spouse does that sends you over the edge?
Well…Kody used to be really bad about leaving the refrigerator door open when he was cooking. Drove me nuts! He’s better now. He also used to be bad at leaving lights on when he left rooms. Again, he’s better. Now he’s into saying “quite frankly” after a lot of stuff and that kind of drives me batty. If that’s the most annoying thing I can think of I think I’ve got it made! I’m sure he’d have a whole legal pad full of over the edge Mallorisms.

Show Us Your Life—Friends

Hey everyone! I’m linking up today with Kelly’s Korner to introduce myself to some of you who may live near me or we can be long-lost blog friends!

I’m Mallory and am the writer of this blog!

Copy (3) of Picture 3071

I am married to my best friend! His name is Kody and we’ve been married 2 1/2 years but have known each other almost 9 years! That is a crazy number to me, but time flies when you’re having fun!

I’ve met a few blog friends and it’s always so fun. After reading some of my favorite blogs I feel like we’re real friends and I know all about them! :)

I work for the City in my hometown and am the City Clerk. I love my job and the people I work with. Kody and I attend First United Methodist Church and are very involved. I love my church and my friends!

We have 2 dogs, Jax and Bo. They are German Shepherds and are always keeping us laughing. We enjoy being outside gardening, sitting on the deck, basically being lazy!

I graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 2008 with a degree in Mass Communications/Public Relations. I enjoy talking and listening to people so it’s right up my alley.

Any other questions??? Let me know! I’d love to hear from people nearby!

SURPRISE for KT!

I’ve been wanting to tell this since JANUARY but Kody occasionally reads my blog. I bought concert tickets in January to surprise Kody for fun because Eric Church is his favorite right now and then his birthday is about a month away. I NEVER am able to surprise him so it’s been fun hinting around for this long that I had his birthday surprise. I wrapped up the tickets and weighed the box down and he can open them after I pick him up.

He knows we’re going to Springfield tonight for my doctor’s appointment in the morning, but he doesn’t know I’m picking him up early. Most likely he will put up a fight because he’s a workaholic and worked through lunch today…but his boss knows all about it and is going to call him in right before I get there to have him “help” him with some stuff.

I’ve basically distanced myself with him this week and he’s almost caught on a couple of times. He had a coworker send out an email that she had 2 tickets (he didn’t even know he was going to be in Springfield) and he emailed me and said we should go we’ll be there anyways………I blew him off and called the girl and had her email him to tell him they were gone. I kept the surprise this long I couldn’t let that ruin it!

He’s been super good to me lately and he deserves a fun night out. We’ll go eat at Doe’s and have to-die-for steak and then he can party it up at the concert. I’m thankful for KT and looking forward to tonight!!
