Day trip…local wineries

The first Saturday in July Kody and I ventured out to Mountain View, which is very close and went to a few wineries we’d been hearing about. I’m almost embarrassed I’m JUST NOW blogging about this, but it was a fun day that I definitely want to remember.

First stop, Viandel Vineyard. It was beautiful and I didn’t even feel like we were in Mountain View…which is a tiny town with not much going on.

Isn’t it a cute little place? We took snacks, bought a couple of glasses of wine and took home a bottle to enjoy. We both love wine, especially Missouri wines and learning about the different kinds. The owners are sweethearts and we can’t wait to go back.

We ventured on into Mountain View to ‘antique’ or ‘junk’ as some people call it. No luck finding anything cool. We then headed back towards West Plains and stopped at Horst Winery. It was a neat place and the owner was a really nice guy. Again, we pulled out our snacks, bought a couple glasses of wine and a bottle to take home. At this point we were very impressed with the quality of both wineries and their wine.

The last place we stopped at on our way home was Traver Winery. It was not as neat, atmosphere wise, but fun to visit. Most of the wine was all very sweet, which we’re not big fans of. We did find one bottle we liked and took it home.

I’m thankful we live in a place where we have fun daytrips all around us. It was a fun day just Kody & I. We didn’t make it to Hermann this fall so we may have to take another daytrip back to Mountain View!

Any time spent with Kody is precious, and these days it’s been VERY few and far between. I hate that this fun day was all the way back in July! Crazy how time FLIES!!

Aw! I can empathize. Frank and I kept up that schedule (except we never saw each other b/c I was already at work in the mornings.... and we didn't have classes, that would be super hard!). It will be so worth it when it's over. Working that hard allowed me the choice of staying with the kiddos once they came. Keep it up, girly!

I love going to little wineries! There's a new one that opened up by our house and we've visited it twice (with only Rob sampling ;) ). I think they are so fun to visit!
