Alex, Student Pharmacist

Thursday was a great day for our family! Around noon I ventured with my parents and grandparents to St. Louis to see Alex in his white coat ceremony. At his school, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, when students enter their 3rd year/professional year, they are now known as student pharmacists and are given a white coat with their name on it.

Luckily it was very nice out Thursday. We arrived up there about 3:30 and went to Alex’s apartment. It was pretty clean too!  HA! We headed over to his school which is no more than a mile away around 5 for appetizers. The program started at 6:30 and we were there in plenty of time to get good seats. It was held outside in their quad area, which is snuggly nestled between Barnes Jewish Hospital. I took pictures for my Mom and captured the evening! We’re proud of you Alex, just 3 more years to go (after this year!). You can DO IT! :)

Next big thing will be his graduation! Proud of you Alex!!

Thursdays are good when you’re at the beach…

Thursday was our last day at the beach. We left a day early for our friend’s wedding, but we were lucky enough to spend that much time in Destin and our 2nd trip to the beach this summer!

We got down to the beach fairly early and stayed out there a long time.  We rinsed off in the pool for a bit and it started raining. We actually stayed in the water for awhile while it rained. It felt so good! Before the pool Alex and Tyler went parasailing and then Kody made one of his sand creatures. He made an alligator this time. It was really good too! Much to our surprise it survived the rainstorm and the foot traffic as it was still in place that night when we went back.

We went in and hand lunch and then got ready. We headed to Watercolors (another town) and Seaside for the afternoon. CUTE little towns!

Some friends of ours had told us about Watercolors & Seaside. They said you can get out and walk around the little shops and restaurants and it’s right off the beach. It was about a 20 minute drive from our condo and we scoped out places to eat dinner for the way home. Our request was a dive, somewhere the locals enjoy.

I loved Watercolors/Seaside! It was so quaint and cute. It mainly was little shops with art decor and art galleries. They had the neatest general store with a little bit of EVERYTHING in there! Their post office was adorable!

We headed back to Destin and stopped at a place called Elmo’s on the way home. Wonderful food! I had the best fish tacos! We made it back to our condo just in time for some pictures on the beach. :) You can see our condo in the first picture.

Alex and I did the bungee swing that night. FUN TIMES! It was our 3rd time doing it. Love that thing!

Beach Week!

Of course I’m behind on catching up about our trip to Destin, but I am going to try to knock it all out now! :)

Tuesday we spent the day at the beach and then hit the pool for a bit, but decided to get out of the sun and do some shopping in the afternoon. We all went and Alex got some things for back to school, and Kody and I shopped around for new work shoes. We were unsuccessful! The outlet mall is obviously outside and it was scorching hot! My legs were actually sunburned from my knees down and anytime the sun would shine on them I was in pain! And I had sunscreen on!!!

The guys left and Mom and I stayed and shopped for awhile. I came out good with 3 new pairs of shoes from Bass! 2 are flats for fall/winter, red and black patent! We decided we would have BBQ that night. And we’re SO glad we did! It started storming on our way to dinner and really came up a good shower. Luckily we were able to get seating right away. We went to The Shed. Seriously, if you are in Destin, Gulf Port or Hattiesburg, etc. GO THERE!

Wednesday we spent the day again at the beach and the pool! Kody and Tyler rented a surf board for an hour and it was hilarious to watch them TRY so hard to get up on it. The waves were really bad that day so they chose the worst day to do it. I think they had fun trying, but were glad they didn’t both rent one for an hour. They were worn out!

After naps we went to Dewey Destin’s for dinner. It was really good and another new place we tried. Kody and I went around and took some pictures while we waited on a table….and there’s proof I am on the vacation. We were very lucky, we were seated outside, but on the top deck and it’s covered. It came up another BIG storm and the people below us got soaked. It was a full patio too! One table held out until they finished eating and they were soaking wet!!
