Holiday Weekend!

Helllllooooo 3 day weekend. Bless your heart, glad to see you!

Memorial Day weekend and we don't have big plans. Actually two lovely ladies are visiting us this weekend, my MIL, Teresa and her mom, Grandma. :) We love when they visit. This picture was taken last fall. Kody looks so different. HAHA!

Today we met at Cup O' Joe for lunch and it was so good! We had a great lunch and then headed back to work. I worked for a couple of hours and headed home. It was nice to start the weekend early!! Kody grilled some filets tonight and then made an incredible dessert! I married Betty Crocker! He made homemade granola and Bananas Foster and put both in with half a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich, strawberries, and blueberries. So good!!

Grandma is going to take in several of Kody's dress shirts. He has a closet full and they are more like tents on him. Tomorrow us girls will shop around and meet Kody for lunch. They'll leave Sunday after church.

Like I said, we don't have BIG plans like we normally do. We usually go to Kentucky Lake to the Thompson's lake house, but since we're leaving next weekend for Gulf Shores I wanted to stay home this weekend. We're going to go to an auction Monday, we love to go to auctions! :) That's about it. I hope you all have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend!!

In LOVE with my new blog design!

Back in April I won a blog design on Facebook from sweet Leslie of Sweetie Baby's Custom Blog Design. This girl knows her stuff and she's super easy to work with. I am in love, love, love with my new look and hopefully sometime soon after vacation we'll update the picture in the middle. I've been a slacking blogger lately and there's no other excuse other than I've been a busy gal! The weekend wasn't much of a rest, we were with friends both nights.

Friday night we went to Ashley & Josh's house for dinner. We grilled and ate and had a good time catching up. We then headed to town to listen to John Henry & the Engines play at the Civic Center for the Rotary BBQ Cook-off. It was a fun night!

Kody worked Saturday and I caught up around the house. I cleaned a little and did some grocery shopping. After Kody got off we went clothes shopping for him. He finally got new jeans. He is a skinny mini! His waist is probably smaller than mine now! ha! Saturday night we went to dinner (our fave--El Charro) with the Skeeters and Jennifer's brother Matthew. We grew up next door to Jennifer & family (the Posegates) and Matthew and I are the same age. We played every day and I have so many great memories of time with him. Jennifer actually baby-sat me and Alex. :) It's always good to catch up with Matthew and we love Jen & Jay. We had a really good time. They came out to our house afterwards and we sat outside on the deck for about an hour before they went home to their kids. Fun night!

Sunday after church I went to work to work on some stuff for Kody. I spent a little time in the afternoon ironing and the whole time he was at work doing some welding stuff. We met at church for our Dave Ramsey FPU class and got out fairly early. Kody went to our FPU teacher's house to drop off the welding stuff and was contemplating going to wash his truck. At this point it's 7:15 and we are both oblivious to what was going on in Joplin, just about 3 hours west of us. Once I got in the car I had the radio on a Springfield (MO) station and heard about it. I panicked. Go figure, if you know me, you know I am scared of storms..big time! I called Kody and couldn't get through. Our phones still aren't working right. US Cellular (our provider) has towers down and we can text, but people can't get through to us. I really panicked because it was moving our way. I was able to get through to my parents land-line and they sent my brother to find Kody. He made it home about 8:30. Of course he was out gabbing at this guys house.

Seeing pictures like this on the news was devastating. I can't even imagine where they'll begin.
I was crying like a little baby by the time Kody got home. I was so worked up I needed a chill pill. I was already worked up about the upcoming week and the weather didn't help!

We survived fine though, no tornadoes touched down even though we spent awhile in the basement. Thank God we have one! Tonight we're in for it again, or our region. I am just praying that God will spare us ALL and leave us alone for awhile. Mother Nature has been way too moody this year. It freaks me out. So we were all sparred from the Rapture, what the heck is up with the tornado weather now?

It Seems Like Only Yesterday…

Ok, maybe. Some days it seems like only yesterday I was getting ready to graduate high school….but it’s been 6 years! Other days it seems like it’s been a century away. Looking back on these pictures I had some really good times with great, life-long friends. I can’t believe in 4 years we’ll be celebrating 10 years as Zizzer Alumni.

Here are some random pictures from senior year….

One of my senior pictures…yes I was blonde then!

One of my favorite days of the year…homecoming. It was a big deal at West Plains High School.

I broke my arm RIGHT BEFORE my senior prom, so most of these pictures I have a lovely black cast. It was to match my white dress with black satin bow….and I had originally bought black gloves to wear. Only had to wear one! haha! Yes…Kody went to senior prom with me (and junior prom!) We’ve been together for almost 8 years!!

blog11

Our senior prank was harmless! We drew all over the parking lot with sidewalk chalk. Specifically in Senior Row and on our Own spots. What a fun night. Several classmates joined in on the fun!!

My brother graduated from 8th grade the same year. He looks totally different now! He was sporting the shaggy, highlighted style back then! ha! And Kody was away at school in Nashville and couldn’t make it to my graduation. He came the following weekend and I dressed back up for a picture. LOL!blog9

How many years has it been since you graduated?

Congratulations to any new graduates and especially to Lynsie at Lynsie’s Life for graduating from the University of Missouri LAW program! Wow, that must feel awesome!!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Link up with Jamie and join in on the fun!

I'm loving...
My husband shaved his face. The last time I saw him without facial hair was 2005 and he was at least 40lbs. heavier. It looks like I'm married to a 16 year old!

I'm loving...
There are exciting things going on in our lives right now! I'm not going to go in depth, but let me just say God is good! (And no, I'm not pregnant!!!)

I'm loving...

We leave for vacation in 16 days!! I can't wait to spend a full week with our Thompson family. I'm also excited to read at least a couple of books while I'm laying on the beach!

I'm loving...
Kody and I have been working out together and it's been fun! He goes to the gym 3 days a week in the mornings and those days I go to my gym and then 2 nights a week we meet at the gym and workout together. We're having fun doing it!!

I'm loving...

This weekend we will get to see 2 sets of old friends!! YAY!! My old neighbor, Matthew (who is the brother to Jen Skeeters w/ the twins) will be in town. Matthew or Matt as he is now called, used to play with me every day. They moved when we were in 7th grade and it was a sad, sad day. Jennifer used to babysit Alex and I and now we hang with her and her husband. Crazy how things end up! We also get to see Ashley & Josh this weekend. Josh has been busy keeping up with the storm damage all over!

I'm loving...
I should be getting my blog makeover soon thanks to Sweetie Baby's Custom Designs! Leslie does great work, check out her page!

Turkey Meatloaf Muffins

I had a comment on my last post about the turkey meatloaf link not working! Sorry!! Here's the recipe, let me tell you...they were really good! A little spicy but I dipped them in Ketchup and that took the inital kick out of it.

Yield: Serves 9 Ingredients

1 small yellow onion, coarsely chopped
1 medium carrot, peeled and coarsely chopped
1 stalk of celery, coarsely chopped
2 canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
1 (20-ounce) package JENNIE-O TURKEY STORE® lean ground turkey breast
1/2 cup quick cooking oats
2 egg whites

For Topping

1/4 cup fat free and sugar free ketchup
1 tablespoon chipotle pepper adobo sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar substitute (such as Splenda® Brand

Instructions
1.Preheat oven to 350°F. In the work bowl of a food processor, combine onion, carrots and celery. Pulse until finely chopped. Add chipotle peppers and pulse until just combined.

2.In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey with the pepper and vegetable mixture. Add egg whites and oats; gently mix until combined. Place about 1/3 cup of the prepared meatloaf mixture into 9 wells of a standard size muffin pan that has been lightly sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake for 20 minutes.

3.Meanwhile, combine all of the topping ingredients in a small bowl; set aside. Remove meat loaves from oven and spoon the topping over each meatloaf. Return meatloaf to the oven and continue to bake for an additional 5-10 minutes or until meatloaf is firm and the internal temperature registers 170°F. Let meatloaf stand for 5 minutes before serving. Makes 9 mini loaves.

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Let's see, this has been a pretty good and productive week at work, so I pretty much love lots of things right now! Link up with Jamie here!

I'm loving this weather, it's hot and sunny! Our ground is still very wet from all the rain, but hopefully will dry soon. This weather makes me LONG for the beach and in 23 days I'll be there! Speaking of laying out I'm loving my new floppy straw hat I found at the $1 spot at Target! It was actually $2.50, but hello steal! I always wear a hat when I'm outside like that, my part gets really burnt easily.

I'm loving the new Turkey Meatloaf recipe we tried last night. Kody found it and they were soooo good! A little on the spicy side, but extremely good! This is love/hate, I bought swimsuits at lunch! I am going to try them on tonight, but at least I will look better than what I was looking a few months ago. I have never had a swimsuit body! Darn short legs!!

Hope you all are having a great week!!

Miscellany Monday

I'm linking up with Carissa for Miscellany Monday tonight! I like these kinds of posts on Monday because I usually have a lot of random stuff to post on!

*Friday I went to Springfield for my doctor appointment. It went really well! First I went to Branson to the Titanic Museum with my Mom's class and loved it. I didn't have much time, so I can't wait to go back and read through everything more. My appointment went well and I feel like we're in a good place.

*I had a nice lunch at Qdoba catching up on my blogs on Google Reader. Thank God for Google Reader, seriously it's my BFF.

*I shopped and shopped a little more. I was exhausted at the end of the day, but all in all it was a successful trip. I made it home about 7 and Kody grilled to-die-for (seriously) filets. They were heavenly. He really is talented on the grill and I am not just saying that. I think he's the best griller EVER! He could open a restaurant, but I would never see him...so we won't go there. ha!

*Saturday I worked for awhile and then we went grocery shopping...fun date night! We had a late dinner at Colton's since it was Prom night...everything was crowded.

*Yesterday was Mother's Day. After church we had a small lunch and went home to clean the house and prepare for dinner for our Mother's Day dinner. We had my parents over for chicken grillers, corn on the cob, grilled green beans, salad, and chocolate covered strawberries...they were so good! Mom enjoyed it and didn't have to cook so that's all that mattered.

*Mom and I went to see Something Borrowed yesterday afternoon. SO GOOD! We loved, loved the book and it was pretty close to the book.

*We only have 4 weeks left of Financial Peace University. It's sad to think about because it's been fun on Sunday nights. Last night we went to Spring Dipper, the new ice cream shop in town with the Skeeters after class. The servings were ridiculously HUGE, but we had a good time and the twins are really growing!! Drew was awfully smiley for me and loved Kody. Paige ate her Blue Moon ice cream and had it everywhere. They got in their van afterwards and the first thing she said was, "I feel sick!" haha...maybe a little too much ice cream? Isn't Paige pretty?!

*My MIL is in Gulf Shores...staying next to the condo we will be at in 25 days!!! I can't wait!!!!!!

*Kody grilled another fabulous dinner tonight. We sat outside and brushed the dogs, checked out the flooded garden, sunk in mud, looked at our apple trees, and just layed on the deck listening to the birds tonight. So nice.

That's all, hope y'all have had a great Monday!

Happy Mother's Day, Love You Momma!

Without a doubt, it's easy for me to say that my mom was made for me (and my brother) and is the best mom we could ask for. She has been there for us through everything in life. She's always the first person I call for anything and I can count on her for anything in the world. She's my best friend and we have a ball together. She's the glue that holds us all together and we are forever blessed to have her in our lives. Thanks Mom for all you do! We love you!a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2rKqMdpZX5U/TcdXkcTDCYI/AAAAAAAAEZg/4EHbr9fIYLQ/s1600/mom.bmp">
I also have a wonderful mother-in-law! I didn't think a person could be as lucky as me, but I am so lucky to have 2 wonderful women in my life to guide me to be the best wife and mother (someday!) that I can be. Teresa is my rock when it comes to Kody. She knows him better than I do and if I ever need advice on him or someone to talk to about him, she's my go-to lady. I am glad to call her a friend and always enjoy my time with her. She's such an incredible mother to her three children and MeMaw to Drew & Drake. She has a lot on her plate and manages everything like a champ! We hope you had a great day, wish we could have seen you! Enjoy Gulf Shores! Love you!

Show Us Your Life: Hermann, MO

Do you live near Missouri? Do you like little, cute, quaint German-like towns? Do you appreciate history? If so, go visit Hermann, MO. We went last fall for our year anniversary and literally fell in love with the sweet town. There was NO Wal-Mart, small town, just adorable buildings….and wineries galore! We stayed at the Hermann Hill Cottages and they were to die for! In all honesty if it would have rained the whole time we were there we would have been happy to stay in the room. There was so much to see though we didn’t spend much time in the room! The cottage had its own hot tub that overlooked the Missouri River, had a huge jacuzzi tub inside, steam shower, aromatherapy fireplace, regular fireplace in the bedroom and living room, fully stocked kitchen, and parking right out front. It was incredible! We were spoiled after 2 nights!!

We visited all of the nearby wineries, 7 I believe. Stone Hill had the best tour, Oak Glen had the best view, and Adam Puchta had the best wine! It’s gorgeous in Hermann in the fall! They have a huge Oktoberfest, but we visited November 1st to help the costs. We zip-lined in New Florence which is about 10 minutes away. That was an incredible experience.

If you want something close to home (and you are close to Hermann), look into it. We will most likely go back this fall we loved it so much!
