John Deere Green

The last time we visited Jackson to meet Drake, we also spent quite a bit of time with the busiest almost 3 year old we know, Drew! He is soooo funny! He had to spend a lot of our visit mowing and didn’t have much time to talk to us. We were trying to get him to say bye to us and he kept on playing and finally he yelled, “You goin’ back to Wes Pains?” I got so excited he knew where we lived!

Erica’s dad was in town visited also, so he’s in a few of the pictures. Here are some of our boy!

I told y’all he was busy! He drove his tractor, hooked up his trailer, put his push mower in the trailer, drove that around, push mowed, order from McDonald’s, and made us laugh! And if you think this post is overloaded with pictures, just think…he’s my nephew, think about how it will be for our future kids!!

Please say a prayer for Kody’s Granddad tonight. He is in the last stage of Alzheimer’s and is having a hard time breathing right now and keeping a fever down. Say a prayer for my MIL and Grandma, it’s going to be a rough few days for them. Also pray for the flood victims, as I type at almost 10 p.m., it’s still raining. CRAZY!

April 2011 Flood

Here are pictures from different parts of West Plains after the flood this past weekend. It still is raining, so things are going to remain WET for a very long time. Lots of damage has been done and a state of emergency has been declared for West Plains. We’ve lost baby calves (floated away), fence, homes have gotten soaked, businesses, etc. It’s horrible! Ready for it to all STOP!!!

Easter Weekend!

Happy belated Easter to everyone! I hope everyone was able to spend the day with family worshiping why we really celebrate Easter to begin with! We tried our hardest despite Mother Nature trying to take over…literally.

Friday night we had dinner at my Mom & Dad’s house. Alex was home and they grilled steaks and we just hung out. It was a really good meal! To me, there is nothing better than a good filet! The rain started Friday night and has yet to let up. After dinner we went on home and turned in pretty early!

Saturday Kody and I both worked. It rained so incredibly hard on Saturday morning that you couldn’t see anything outside. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it rain as hard as it did. It went on all day long off and on and until Saturday night, I really didn’t think much about it other than the fact it was just rain.

I spent a couple of hours at home Saturday afternoon, I ironed and watched Friday Night Lights! I’m all caught up, I love me some Coach Taylor! Kody worked late helping a co-worker put in a fuel pump. He wanted me to come in to town to meet him so we could go to dinner from work. I did and it took him a lot longer than he originally thought, so I sat around a lot. I did go by the grocery store to pick some things up and the lightning and rain got crazy! Literally I was scared to go outside. I drove back to his work and had to try several different routes the water was already   high and over the roads. We had a late Mexican dinner around 9 and headed home. When we got home this is what I saw on the news…this is the gas station RIGHT NEXT to where we had dinner and the water was up to the pump handles. AHHHH SCARY!

Then our Habitat for Humanity has a fundraising shop that is a resale shop with used/new home improvement items and the water was 3 feet up the windows on it and most definitely inside. Their propane tank flooded and dumpster!habitat_jbrotherton

Here is one of my Dad’s commercial buildings…………this was before too late in the night I believe…

We stayed home and I was glued to the news hearing about all the highways, streets, etc. closing all over. I was so worked up for those poor people who have wet homes and businesses.

We woke up to rain on Easter Sunday, but tried not to let that get in our way. Kody made me laugh getting dressed. He said, “Houston, we have a problem.” I ran in to see what he was talking about and his pants literally fell right off of him. He doesn’t wear khakis often because our church is casual. He hadn’t worn these in awhile and he pulled them up like sweatpants and pulled them right back down. They were HUGE. I didn’t know what else to do and he wanted to look nice for Easter so he put on a belt and cinched them up really tight and literally looked like he was floating in his outfit.

As soon as we got to church we found out the old Fellowship Hall downstairs flooded. Kody and my Dad went straight down and Kody helped the entire service and most of Sunday School. He missed a great Easter sermon, but they needed help. So instead of our nice Easter picture at the altar, I got this instead…these were taken after they got the 3 inches of water sucked up and the carpet was just immensely wet. I don’t know how he kept his clothes on they were so big…haha!

We did muster up this picture, he’s sweaty but all smiles.Picture 2481

We had lunch at MaMa’s and visited with everyone for awhile afterwards. We were lazy the rest of the afternoon. Kody was going to go help my Dad and Grandpa at the farm, but it continued to rain and we didn’t see the point in helping put things back together until the damage is completely done. We had our Dave Ramsey class last night and learned all about insurance and the different types there is and what you really need. Interesting lesson! I’ll post another post on the flood pictures I got from our ride yesterday morning.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Again, I'm going to do something for the first time! I'm linking up with Jamie from This Kind of Love for What I'm Loving Wednesday! You should too!

I'm loving...

That today is Wednesday and just 2 more days of work this week. Unfortunately I do not get off on Friday, but that's ok....it's pay day, so I will welcome Friday at work with open arms!

I'm loving...

My brother will be home this weekend! It's been awhile since he's been home and we'll all be together for Easter.

I'm loving...
This weekend is Easter! It's so exciting to go to church on Easter morning, you can feel the spirit and sense the joy in everyone!

I'm loving...

The fact that this is week 3 on our envelope system with Financial Peace University and it is going SOOOO well! Literally so nice to know where our money goes!
I'm loving...

The fact that I am becoming ridiculously spoiled by my husband. Seriously, he's cooking every night, cleaning up the kitchen (on occasion), and making my breakfast every morning. God, love this man! He does all of this in between running 2-3 miles a night! I'm loving...

After two 13 hour days, tonight I can go home and stay home at 5 p.m. After dinner we're going to catch up DVR...Biggest Loser!!

More Input Needed!

Ok ladies, thanks for those of you who have chimed in on our new blog name. I'm serious now and getting excited! haha! My friend Manda suggested a place and all along I had been trying to think of something and all I could think of was Thompson Turnpike and I thought that was the cheesiest thing ever. Gross, no thanks.

Here is what I've come up with....Let me know your favorite!

Truly Thompsons

Truly Thompson (notice NO S...not sure which sounds best)

Thompson Square (Yes, I'm aware this is a country band, but I think it'd be cute for this too)

Leave any suggestions, I want to change it but am sort of lost!

Need Your Input! Blog Name Change???

I need my faithful followers help! I've been wanting to change my blog name for awhile. I had no clue what would come of this when I started it, just really wanted a little journal for wedding plans and right after the wedding! Well a year and a half later, I'm still at it going strong.

First my blog was, A Day in the Life of a Newlywed, then I felt like after a year had gone by the newlywed part wasn't so cute anymore. Then it became A Day in the Life of the Thompsons, but that's a mouthful. I am open to suggestions, I still want to use our last name since it is a blog about us. My thought was, Truly Thompsons...thoughts???

I'm a freak about wanting things to flow off your tongue easily, especially with kid names and blog names! haha...So I like the thought of the double Ts....

I'm also getting a new look soon, keep checking back and PLEASE LEAVE YOUR INPUT!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

This is my first time to participate in Miscellany Monday with Carissa. Several of the blogs I read do it, and I've been such a slacker lately I figured I would TRY to cover several topics with one post!

--Last week continued to be crappy to say the least. I was so happy to see Friday night come and spend some one-on-one time with KT. We grilled steaks, talked, and snuck in dessert from DQ. He saved my soul Friday night, I was on the verge of disaster!!

--We've done so well with our lifestyle change. Seriously, very well. We even treated ourselves to dessert at DQ like I said in the previous bullet. Kody has lost 40 lbs! He looks like High School Kody again. I've lost almost 20!!!

--Saturday I had to be up BEFORE dawn and go open our sports complex for the city indoor yard sale. I sat there for 2 hours and gave up. I figured they could handle it fine without me. I got in some Wal-Mart shopping before the Saturday madness began and cleaned house. --I met my grandma for lunch on Saturday. We went to my new favorite place, Hero's Coffee. It's so good! We sat and talked for a long time, it was good to see her. --I went for a drive after lunch by myself. Drove out by our farm, stopped at a cemetery, walked around, just enjoyed the sunshine (earlier Saturday morning it was COLD out, it warmed up).

--While I was on my walk I thought a lot about the Wilson/Niswonger families from Jackson. My heart continues to break for them, they said goodbye to their son, husband, uncle, etc. Saturday afternoon.

--Kody and I ventured to Mtn. Home, AR Saturday afternoon late. We had BBQ at a little rib house, went to Lowe's, and just enjoyed being away from town and talked. It was wonderful!

--Yesterday we had Palm Sunday services and the sermon was exceptionally good! In Sunday School we passed out door hangers for our Easter Sunday Services. We are hopeful to get some new faces there on Sunday morning!!

--We went to El Charro's for lunch with our church friends and their kids, it was a wild time and we really enjoyed ourselves!

--Along with the Judds, we went auctioning on Sunday afternoon. Kody was interested in some things, which of course didn't sell until the very end, but it was a beautiful day to be outside. I even got a little color! He only came away with chain connectors for chains on his new trailer, but it was a fun afternoon.

--We finished Week 6 of Financial Peace University. It was on Buyers Beware and very interesting! If your church offers a class, it's worth the $100, just sign up and go!

--KT is planting the garden today....cannot wait until it all starts popping up!

--I took my MaMa an Easter Lilly this afternoon, it's always so good to see her.

--Council meeting tonight....I have to rush home, eat, and rush back. Tomorrow night is my last EXCEL night class (it's on leadership) thank the good Lord! My weeks will be slowing down soon.

Did I miss anything? Blogger is STILL having spacing issues, sorry this post looks like a train wreck!
