Weekend Recap

We had a great weekend. Friday night Kody and I stayed in and grilled steaks and just enjoyed a quiet night. It was sooooo nice to not go anywhere, even though I'm usually the one who makes plans! ;-) We were in bed by 10:30 and asleep, so it was awesome waking up at 8:30...10 hours of sleep makes for a happy lady! Poor KT had to work though!

I cleaned house Saturday afternoon and waited on KT to get off work. It was late as usual, but early enough we could still make our dinner date with Melanie and John (friends from work). We met them at Ruby Tuesday's and had a really good dinner! If you frequent that restaurant definitely try the Chicken Fresco. It's so good and a healthy option for you! Their grilled green beans and grilled zucchini is tasty as well.

Afterwards we went back to our house and sat around and talked. We got to laughing really hard because I had a 1991 yearbook. Side note...I love 'old' things, especially yearbooks from my high school. I bought a couple of what I considered old yearbooks from the (I kid you not) antique mall in town...Well John was in one of the yearbooks! We got a good laugh out of it because I said I was starting kindergarten that year and he was graduating! Not sure if he found that funny or not. Melanie and John are in their late 30s but we had a ball with them. SNL was a rerun again so we crashed early.

Church was great yesterday morning. It was all about us as sinners. Sunday School was NOT so great. I hate to say that, but we're covering a topic that I have absolutely no interest what-so-ever! This too shall pass, so I hang in there. We started topics on apologetics and defending your faith. It has gone so deep we're not talking about molecular biology and I can't really explain much more because I have NO clue. I highly, HIGHLY doubt I will ever have to have that conversation with someone. 1--I'm not smart enough...2--I'm not friends with people that smart! HA! (And if I am, refrain from talking to me about that.)

We went to El Charro's with the Rutledge family. None of us enjoyed SS so we're hoping the topic is changed soon. After a fun lunch we went to Aldi's and Wal-Mart. I can get most everything at Aldi's with the exception of a few things. I love their produce at Aldi's...especially the price.

I started printing out coupons last night. I want to try the couponing method of shopping. Not sure if it will work or not. I like to buy what's on my list and nothing more. So I doubt I get $100 bucks worth of groceries for $2.50 or anything.... ;-)

Last night we had some crazy weather. It was storming and we had an earthquake around 11, and several tremors after that according to the weather service. It was centered in Guy, Arkansas near Searcy. We actually felt nothing. I was sound asleep, but Kody didn't feel a thing. Several people at work did however feel it! I was giving a presentation for a college class one summer and felt one. It was so weird, kind of cool.

Tonight Kody is making dinner (again. I have that boy trained I think! ;)) and I will be watching the Bachelor and Bethenny Ever After! Great night for TV!

Hope you all survived the storms last night wherever you are!

Not sure if you can tell, but Uncle Ko-Ko and Drew built a big tower and Drew pushed it down. Then he wanted Ko-Ko to crawl under his lego table….Ko-Ko obviously got stuck so Drew pulled him out. Then he wanted MeMaw to crawl under! This is Kody’s 82 year old grandma!! She got down and he pushed her butt and we were laughing SOOOO hard. This lady is tough as nails and does not act her age….plus she has 2 artificial hips!

In other pictures Drew is dancing to his Elmo DVD and making his other MeMaw, my MIL, dance. He is also helping say the Thompson prayer with PawPaw! What a smart boy!!

Our February Trip to Jackson

It was a crazy, busy week for me, therefore I have yet to post on our trip to Jackson last weekend. I was off on Monday for President's Day so we headed to Jackson after Kody got off work on Saturday. We got there just in time for dinner at Stooges (our favorite) with Kaci, Luke, John, Teresa, Grandma, Jimmy, Sally, Wayne & Karen (friends of my in-laws). It was so good to see everyone and visit. I love the BBQ salad and luckily that is something I can eat (since I'm watching my carb/sugar intake!).

Kaci and Luke met us there and when the boys got out of the cars Luke and Kody both had on the same black zip-up pullover. It was obviously a Christmas gift and so funny they wore it together. Well, Jimmy & Wayne had the same Mizzou black zip-up pullover and John was almost matching! Definitely picture worthy, but I didn't have my big camera in with me and my phone was about to die and wouldn't take pictures. :( We got a good laugh though.

After dinner we headed to Kyle & Erica's. Drew was still up and their friends, Lindsey & Adrian were there with their little girl, Ashlyn. They are all best friends. Lindsey is Jimmy & Sally's daughter and is Kyle's age and they've always been friends....Erica and Adrian came in to play at Mizzou. They live 2 houses down, their kids are 2 months apart, and their both due to have babies like 2 weeks apart. LOL....they like doing the same thing obviously! Anyways, Erica's BFF Laura and her family were in town. We hadn't seen Laura & Michael since our couples shower in Jackson in 2009. We love them and it was so good to see them. We visited, laughed, and hung out until about 1 am! Sunday we met them for lunch before they headed back to STL.

Kaci and Luke had to leave Sunday morning, but we'll see them again in March. :) We went to lunch with everyone at My Daddy's Cheesecake (Heaven...or hell when you are watching carbs/sugars!!) Drew was hilarious and followed around Blake (Laura and Michael's almost 4 y/o, they have a beautiful little girl, Karli who is almost 2!) I said Drew needs a big brother not a little brother! ;) He followed everything Blake did, including sitting sit and eating all of his food!!

I shopped around Cape with Teresa Sunday afternoon. I love shopping in Cape. People who live in big cities think it's not much to write home about, but when all you have is a Wal-Mart and a few other places, Target and a decent mall makes this girl happy!!! We shopped again with Erica, Drew, Kody and John Monday!

Sunday night Teresa made dinner. It was so good and Drew made us all laugh. I will do another post with just pictures. He has quite a personality and I can't wait to see what he's like as a big brother. I really don't think he will mind it much. He is an entertainer and I think will enjoy entertaining baby brother....who is yet named!!! The little guy is due in about a month!!

After dinner Kody and I headed to Cape to drive around. We drove around both of my old houses (Dunklin and Green Acres--yes I lived on Green Acres!), his friend's old house down Abbey Road, downtown Cape, just all over. It was nice--just the two of us reliving some memorable times. I loved when we lived there, it always felt like a vacation. I don't know why, it just did. Don't get me wrong, I love where we are now....just a vacation is always fun, right?! I didn't have to work full-time either!!! HA!

Monday we visited Grandad in the nursing home. He is in the late stages of Alzheimer's, but seems to be holding his own. Drew went with us and frequents the place quite often with my MIL and Grandma. He knew all the people and it was so cute. He gave Grandad toys, combed his hair, gave him a drink, and he was so gentle. He also knows the manager of the home (a family friend), saw him way down the hall and yelled KENNY....KENNY....well Kenny came down, Drew lead him to his office and got candy out of 'his--as in Drew's' basket! It was hilarious!

After lunch at the new Delmonico's, we headed to WP. It was a yucky, rainy day, but we got home at a decent time around 5. ...............just in time for the Bachelor! ;)

It was a great trip and we cherish our time with our family. The next time we're there it will be for a wedding shower and I'm going to HOPE a baby!!

Stay tuned for pictures!
