Happy belated Easter to everyone! I hope everyone was able to spend the day with family worshiping why we really celebrate Easter to begin with! We tried our hardest despite Mother Nature trying to take over…literally.
Friday night we had dinner at my Mom & Dad’s house. Alex was home and they grilled steaks and we just hung out. It was a really good meal! To me, there is nothing better than a good filet! The rain started Friday night and has yet to let up. After dinner we went on home and turned in pretty early!
Saturday Kody and I both worked. It rained so incredibly hard on Saturday morning that you couldn’t see anything outside. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it rain as hard as it did. It went on all day long off and on and until Saturday night, I really didn’t think much about it other than the fact it was just rain.
I spent a couple of hours at home Saturday afternoon, I ironed and watched Friday Night Lights! I’m all caught up, I love me some Coach Taylor! Kody worked late helping a co-worker put in a fuel pump. He wanted me to come in to town to meet him so we could go to dinner from work. I did and it took him a lot longer than he originally thought, so I sat around a lot. I did go by the grocery store to pick some things up and the lightning and rain got crazy! Literally I was scared to go outside. I drove back to his work and had to try several different routes the water was already high and over the roads. We had a late Mexican dinner around 9 and headed home. When we got home this is what I saw on the news…this is the gas station RIGHT NEXT to where we had dinner and the water was up to the pump handles. AHHHH SCARY!
Then our Habitat for Humanity has a fundraising shop that is a resale shop with used/new home improvement items and the water was 3 feet up the windows on it and most definitely inside. Their propane tank flooded and dumpster!
Here is one of my Dad’s commercial buildings…………this was before too late in the night I believe…
We stayed home and I was glued to the news hearing about all the highways, streets, etc. closing all over. I was so worked up for those poor people who have wet homes and businesses.
We woke up to rain on Easter Sunday, but tried not to let that get in our way. Kody made me laugh getting dressed. He said, “Houston, we have a problem.” I ran in to see what he was talking about and his pants literally fell right off of him. He doesn’t wear khakis often because our church is casual. He hadn’t worn these in awhile and he pulled them up like sweatpants and pulled them right back down. They were HUGE. I didn’t know what else to do and he wanted to look nice for Easter so he put on a belt and cinched them up really tight and literally looked like he was floating in his outfit.
As soon as we got to church we found out the old Fellowship Hall downstairs flooded. Kody and my Dad went straight down and Kody helped the entire service and most of Sunday School. He missed a great Easter sermon, but they needed help. So instead of our nice Easter picture at the altar, I got this instead…these were taken after they got the 3 inches of water sucked up and the carpet was just immensely wet. I don’t know how he kept his clothes on they were so big…haha!
We did muster up this picture, he’s sweaty but all smiles.
My brother & I…
We had lunch at MaMa’s and visited with everyone for awhile afterwards. We were lazy the rest of the afternoon. Kody was going to go help my Dad and Grandpa at the farm, but it continued to rain and we didn’t see the point in helping put things back together until the damage is completely done. We had our Dave Ramsey class last night and learned all about insurance and the different types there is and what you really need. Interesting lesson! I’ll post another post on the flood pictures I got from our ride yesterday morning.

My goodness, again-that is a lot of water! Love the Easter pictures you were able to get though. Your dress is beautiful! :)
my moms shop is in the complex behind habitat for humanity..right across from horse trader :(
That's so sweet of your husband to help so much at the church---I know how much that would mean to me if Rob did something like that at our church! I do think your Easter picture looks good, though!! I'll be praying for the flood victims--that's so so tragic. :(
I can't believe how much it's rained here these past couple of days! I hope all is okay though. I thought of you this morning as the news was mentioning West Plains. Praying for you guys!
