Week 1 of Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University

First of all, let me ask, do you know who Dave Ramsey is? If you don't, click on the link and find out. He is a genius man in my opinion. I used to make fun of my Dad for listening to him on XM, now I find myself doing the same thing. Then who made fun of me? Kody....now who also loves Dave? Yes, Kody loves Dave Ramsey. I feel like I have moved mountains with this subject and Kody! Since when we got married for almost a year we had separate bank accounts...we're doing SO much better!

Here's the scoop on Dave. (Click for bio) I will not go over everything we went through in class because we paid for the class, $100, but we both feel like this is a lifetime investment for yourself and what's $100 when we're talking a lifetime here? Nothing. Sign.up.today!

I am a budety type gal. I don't do a black and white budget, but have wanted to and I knew this would be the best way to go. We're currently trying to find time this week to get our quickie budget done and read the chapters in one of his books for the next class. We don't have a lot of debt. We have a little left on my car and our house of course, but other than that we don't own a credit card. (Thank God!) He is all about paying cash for things or a check and if you don't have it, you don't get it. He has a system set up for an emergency fund, so you can't use the excuse that you have 100 different credit cards for different types of emergencies. When you join a class (click here to find one near you or ask your church to look into it) you get this awesome kit that looks like a board game. I was calling it the board game to life! :)
I probably put you all to sleep, but wake up and go sign up! I literally left class more excited than Christmas morning!

I LOOOOOOVEEEEEEEE Financial Peace University!! It's exciting isn't it? We don't do a budget because my husband is a farmer, and we NEVER know what we'll have financially, but we swear by many of the FPU principles!!!!!!!

Haha. You really love Dave.
My husband has lived by his principals for a long time (well before we met). I'm so thankful for it. Only owing on our home has allowed so much wiggle room. We are actually to the point where we put EVERYTHING on our credit card and it pays directly into our retirement every month. We pay off our credit card each month and never carry a balance. Seeing $100 in our retirement every couple months is free money! (

I really want Rob and I to do Financial Peace University as soon as our wedding is over. I am really looking forward to being debt-free. I'm almost debt-free, but Rob has some serious law school debt!

Also--i wanted to tell you that i tagged you in a fun 20 questions game! :)
