Our Weekend before the StOrM!

I’m saying our weekend before the storm, because we are in a Blizzard warning and are expecting some serious ice and snow. Ugh! The weekend before the storm, just a mere 3 days ago was serious 70 degrees! Saturday was beautiful out! I’m ready for spring!

Friday night we had a pizza date. We had a good time talking and eating pizza. We have a few pizza places in town, but Pizza Hut is about as good as it gets. The service is never great there, but they always have good pizza. Afterwards we went over to my grandparents’ house to visit for awhile and then headed home. Kody works on Saturdays and I worked to keep myself busy. I should have stayed home and enjoyed the pretty weather.

Saturday after work we got ready and went to Caulfield to eat at the 3 Legged Mule. Yes, I said that correctly…3 Legged Mule. LOL! It’s like a pub, they have good food though. I had chicken strips and they were tasty! We met Ashley & Josh there and afterwards we went to a goat roping. Yes, again, you heard that correctly….goat roping. It’s very similar to roping cows, except it’s goats. Josh is big into roping and Kody goes along for fun occasionally.

Ashley and I stayed long enough to see them rope together and then we left. Ashley is a new aunt, her brother, Luke had a baby girl. We went by to see the baby, Ellie. She was precious!!

We went back to Josh and Ashley’s and waited on the guys. It was funny because they were driving Josh’s Suzuki Samari (sp?) and had to take dirt roads most of the way home because it had expired plates….well they got lost. Neither one of them are from this area, although Josh is close, but Ashley’s brother either gave them the wrong directions or they didn’t pay attention. They ended up way out of their way!! ……….in this hot rod!!

Just about the time I thought we should call them, they called us and were close. We left shortly after they returned so we could get a little rest before early church.

Sunday was a packed day with NO rest for the weary!! We went to our regular church service and skipped Sunday School to go to a newer church in town, Genesis Church. It was a really neat service, their 2nd year anniversary and their last Sunday in the Opera House (where our reception was held). They now have their own building and will be moving out there this coming Sunday. We went to watch Tara sing. The service was really contemporary and we compared it to FUMC (or church). Kody said, well it was a neat service, but I haven’t been converted! We had a quick lunch and then went to cut wood for about 2 1/2 hours. I said I would go help…I don’t cut anything, but help load.

We had a really good home cooked meal at mom and dad’s and headed home! I had been waiting all month for Sunday night’s TV…Kennedy Home Videos on TLC. From what I watched it was really good! I guess the weekend caught up with me and I fell asleep and went to bed at 8:30!! I never do that, but thankfully I DVR’ed this and can watch it later.

Governor Nixon (In Missouri) has declared this a state of emergency in preparation for this storm. Our state is under a Blizzard WARNING and it doesn’t look too good. I drove in to work today and the temperature was hovering around freezing and we had a ton of rain. We are forecasted to get more ice than anything. I went through ice storms in 2008 in Cape Girardeau and 2009 here in West Plains and really don’t want to do that again! I plan on going home early, I do not want to get stuck here or my car be left here. Cancellations were all over the place….so it won’t be a big deal if I leave. :)

My in-laws are getting payback for going to Jamaica in January. They just spent a few days in Montego Bay and were supposed to land last night in St. Louis. They went from Jamaica to Atlanta and then to Cincinnati, but had to spend the night there. I guess they were just taking them all over, I don't think Cincinnati was in the original drawing plans. Something was said about them flying to Detroit (they live in close to the "boot heel" of Missouri...so Detroit doesn't help them). They can't find a rental car, but I really think they would be safe to wait it out and fly in. Cincinnati to Jackson is like an 8 hour trip on a good weather day. Hopefully they will make it home Thursday. St. Louis has already cancelled all flights for tomorrow also!

Stay safe and warm out there, this is bound to get crazy!

The Three-Legged Mule has great burgers and pizza! It's a tradition in our family to go and eat after Christmas Eve Communion and eat :)
