Christmas with the Griswolds…oh wait, I mean the Thompsons!

I love my in-law family, they are crazy! We had our family Christmas on the 26th. I got up early and went shopping. For the first time ever I was able to shop in some big stores the day after Christmas! :) My in-laws house is always done up really nice for the holidays!

We started our Christmas around 2 and opened gifts while Drew napped. Luckily he slept really well so we could get all of that done while he was sleeping. It would have been difficult with Drew baby running around!! Before I show pictures of us opening gifts, I have to explain my husband’s outfit! Have you ever seen Christmas Vacation? Remember where Cousin Eddie is in the living room drinking eggnog out of a moose head glass? Yeah, well, Kody tried his best to reenact that moment. His family loves Christmas Vacation so much they LOVED it!

If you can’t tell, the guy group shot shows the T-shirts they all proudly wore that said Griswold Family Vacation.

After we had Prime Rib for dinner Drew opened his gifts! He loved them all!!Picture 2023 Picture 1983 Picture 1988 Picture 1995 Picture 1998 Picture 2013 Picture 2016 Picture 2018 Picture 2022

We took a family group shot right before Kaci and Luke had to hit the road and called it good! Afterwards Kyle, Erica, Kody, Drew, and I went to look at Christmas lights in Cape and Jackson…. Picture 2031Picture 2036

And a picture of me….I got a new zoom lens for my camera and Kody was busy playing with it! I LOVE IT! I am pumped to use it now! :)

We had a great Christmas and were so blessed to be with all of our family. Now that the holiday is over it’s kind of sad. Mainly because my house is still in a state of disaster and I have to go home tonight and get it all cleaned up!

Christmas Day!

We started Christmas Day early and opened gifts together at our house. Back in November we bought a tv with gift cards we had saved and that was our big Christmas gift to each other. We’re fixing our basement how we want it and it’s going down there. I honestly can’t believe how well Kody shopped this year! He got me 2 new purses…Fossil & Vera!Picture 1831

He also picked out a couple of CDs, Sugarland’s newest and then WOW Worship CD! I didn’t ask for it, but it was such a nice surprise!!! He got me a new Kameleon ring and I received several pops for it….You put different pops in the middle and you can have a different looking ring all the time!

He also had help from my Mom and gave me a stick-on thing for above our kitchen cabinets. I have been wanting something since we moved in and didn’t want anything real corny about ‘kitchens’ but I found this and loved it! It says The fondest memories are made when gathered around the table. Perfect since our rule is to sit at the table each night for dinner!Picture 1828

He always finds the best candy too! He picked out some gourmet chocolates at Grapevine and had them in a really cute box! Later on when we got to Jackson he surprised me with brown and tan plaid rain boots with insulators to put in for snowy weather!!! I didn’t even ask for those! He is really good to me! :) Here he is opening some of his gifts….

We got dressed and ready and headed to my mom and dad’s house for Christmas with them….

I got several nice things!! I love my new Toms shoes, so much that I ordered another pair today! My mom found the newest Kennedy book with a CD of unseen pictures! YES! Can’t wait to have time to look at that!! I got a lot of Vera Bradley accessories, a 4 piece picture set of the New York Waterfront for my office, etc!

We headed to my Aunt Janet’s around 12. Kody and I ate a quick lunch and opened the gifts we had and hit the road. I was sad to leave so quick, but excited to get to our next Christmas. We made it to Jackson in about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Someone was in a hurry…Luke was the only person home when we got there, but everyone else arrived from the nursing home shortly after. Kyle & Erica were hosting Erica’s family Christmas so we went to their house for dessert. We had soups for dinner, which was nice since it had been a couple of days of eating big meals and Sunday brought another big meal.

We had a great time at Kyle & Erica’s playing with Drew and visiting with her family. Drew is big into Thomas the Train so he got several new trains for Christmas!
