Year in Review--July-December

On my last post I talked about important events from the year 2009 from January-June. The post was too long for me to do the whole year...plus I ran out of time!

Here's the rest of the story...

We started out July by going to Rockbridge to celebrate the 4th early with our Hamby friends. We love Rockbridge, it's kind of a special place for Kody and I since we've gone for big occasions. It's on the river and a nice restaurant with cabins...we need to stay the night sometime. We had a good meal, I survived the car ride down without getting carsick, and made it home before too late!

Our nephew Drew turned 1 on July 4th, but we didn't get to spend his birthday with him, we were sad, but Kody had to work! July is actually full of birthdays for both of our families...it starts out with July 4-Drew, July 10-My Dad, July 11-Luke, July 17-Erica, July 24-Cousin Sam, July 30-Kyle. My Uncle Larry and Aunt Janet's birthday is also thrown somewhere in that mix!

We started going to rodeos in July with the Hamby's and really enjoyed it...

Besides a lot of rain and our garden growing like 1 big, fat weed, we didn't do a whole lot in July....

In August we started the month off right with a Couples Shower in our honor at Kody's Uncle Dwain & Aunt Susan Hahs's home in Jackson. What a party. Soooo much fun. Kody's sister Kaci, sister-in-law Erica, and his Aunt Barb also helped host. It was a great shower and they outdid themselves with the food, cakes, decorations, etc. Lots of fun!

We also got to go visit Kody's grandad in the nursing home.

We were so excited for the next week in August because Teresa, Grandma, Erica, and Drew came to visit us in West Plains! Drew had a blast, he swam on our deck and LOVED Uncle Kody's tractor!!!!! He even fell asleep he wouldn't get off. Erica even took a turn driving it. We had a blast with them and hope they all visit again very soon!

My 23rd birthday was August 8th and I had a great day...except Kody had to work late and didn't get to go to dinner with us at Gaston's. I was upset, but didn't let it ruin my fun night at Gaston's...it's a place, similar to Rockbridge on the river with phenomenal food!!

We did however celebrate the next day in Springfield, MO...shopping, eating, and engagement pictures! I loved our pictures and our wedding pictures are even better!

The rest of August was spent preparing my brother to move, or him preparing us, bridal portraits, hanging with friends, and working on invitations for the wedding.

September came just as fast as teh other months...I was mostly excited about my Bachelorette Party. Kaci & Erica (sister-in-laws) hosted in Jackson. My mom, Susan (Mom's bff), Ashley, Courtney, Jessica, Jess Ladd, Kaci Wright, Kelli, etc all came for the occasion! SO MUCH FUN! We started with a little shower at Erica's house, then went to eat at Bella Italia, and finished the night at Bel Air. We planned on going to different places, but we had so much fun with the band at Bel Air, we didn't leave!

I had my last shower on September 26th at Cup O' Joe in West Plains...my friend Ashley hosted for me. It was VERY nice! She outdid herself, but usually does!!

Besides a few other little things, September was very busy preparing for October 24th...the big wedding day!

Once October 1st hit, I panicked a little, although now there was no reason to. We had our stuff together and did well with the planning ahead and everything came together perfectly. Homecoming was October 9-10 and always one of my favorite days. This year I went to the rainy parade and was a little sad because for the 1st time in soooooooo many years, I wasn't in it, nor was my brother. We are growing up! It was fun to see other kids though, like Sam York, our family friend. I went to the game (Kody worked late) and then hung out with friends after he got off. I love to see people when they come home for Homecoming. You've gotta be from a small town that loves football to get it. I took a trip to Lake of the Ozarks for the Missouri Municipal League Annual Meeting in October and that was good on the ole' mind...2 nights alone in a hotel!

Our wedding was October 24, 2009. Quite possibly the most beautiful day ALL YEAR. We were blessed with perfect weather and people to be involved. Our rehearsal & dinner was October 23rd, and after rehearsal (which went oh so smoothly) we headed to the Country Club for dinner. It was a lot of fun and at that point I was so relaxed. Our decorating was done within 3 hours Friday morning and I couldn't have been more calm. I went home to my parents' house and slept like a rock. I was ready for the best day of my life!

Our honeymoon to Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica was pure heaven and just what we needed after the wedding. We didn't want to come home....

After we returned home from Jamaica it was like Christmas and Thanksgiving were right around the corner. We hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year and I actually don't have any pictures...too busy in the kitchen! December was spent between Christmas parties and family and so mcuh fun as our 1st Married Christmas...you can look back at the Christmas posts to see updates on that.

Hard to believe we are about to finish a decade! WOW! 2000-2009 has been incredible...I went from Middle School to High School, graduated High School, moved away to college, Graduated & moved home...got a job, met Kody, got engaged, got married...did about everything but have a baby. I will save something for the next decade! ;)

Happy New Year. Count your blessings!

Year in Review!

2009 has been the most memorable and best year of my life so far, also one of the fastest years. They say time goes faster the older you get, I am starting to believe that. On top of getting older and planning a wedding, 2009 was busy & fast, but oh so wonderful. There were good times, great times, and even a few bad times...but looking back at the year makes me remember how absolutely blessed we are to have such phenomenal friends & family.

It all started out in January...We went to look at what is now our home on January 3rd. John, Teresa, Kyle, Erica, and Drew had come to town so they got to go with us and of course my parents. I knew from the second I walked in the door I wanted the house, just had to make sure Kody was all for it....A couple weeks later we made an offer on the home and it was finally accepted! January 24th we went wedding dress shopping! It was me, my mom, Susan (her bff), and my best friend from college Jess Ladd. What a fun day...a little stressful at one point, but I found the one after trying it on for a good laugh. Who knew I could be a ruffly girl?

A couple days after our offer was accepted on the house, a HUGE ice storm hit! We were worried the trees in our yard could have damaged the roof, but we were in the clear. Several people were without power for at least a week. Luckily we were just without it 45 minutes!
Here are the boys running crazy in the ice...

On January 25th our first baby, Jax, turned 2! We had a small party for him at our house with just the 4 of us...then Bo turned a year old on February 8th! We celebrated Valentine's Day with the Hamby's at Club 60 in Mtn. Grove...very good food and a lot of fun!

The rest of February was spent packing up the duplex getting ready to move into the house! We signed the papers on March 13th and were officially home owners after that. After months of searching, we found what was the perfect home for us! John & Teresa came to help move and we had it done within a few hours on Saturday the 14th. My brother turned 18 on March 15th and got to be off for a week on spring break.
March 23rd marked the Opening House for West Plains City Hall...where I work. We have a beautiful new building that we're really proud of!

We also attended the Cape County Cancer Gala...which was Mardi Gras themed, lots of fun like always!

We bought a tractor in March also...Kody was in heaven...
There wasn't a whole lot that went on in April. We visited Jackson once, celebrated Easter with my family, ordered bridesmaid dresses, I helped host a shower for my great friend, Ashley Tyree Hamby....lots of fun. Then the last Sunday in April Mom and I went to Springfield and registered...tons of fun!

May began with sunshine and my brother's last prom. He looked really nice and got to drive a cool car, what more could an 18 year old ask for?!

My brother also graduated from high school in May in the top 10% of his class...he takes after his sister...Ok, maybe not. He was accepted to St. Louis College of Pharmacy and started in the fall.

My wedding dress also came in and I began the big search for a BIG veil. That's what I wanted, regardless of it being in style or not and finally decided to have one custom made from India! My veil was gorgeous...

Our BFFs Ashley & Josh tied the knot May 30th and what a great day that was! I helped with the guestbook and it was at her parents house. Absolutely gorgeous event, very memorable!

We were so happy for our best friends to get married, that just meant we could be old married couples together and still have fun! It was a great day and they were blessed with great weather, which was especially good because it was outdoors! We did however miss my family vacation to Destin, Florida this year. We had to save our vacation days for our Jamaican honeymoon, but in the end it was sooooooo worth the wait!
Relay for Life was held in our town this year on June 5th. It was my grandma's 6th surviving year.

We also celebrated Kody's 24th birthday on June 10th. I took him to Mtn. Home, Arkansas to a place called Blu Pig (yes, there is no E in it) for excellent BBQ. Then we went to Lowe's and let him spend some gift card $$....it's a neat restaurant, nothing fancy but we were able to sit out on their deck that overlooked the lake.
My parents friends threw us a Couples Shower/Party on June 13th. It was a blast. It was an unwrapped room to room shower. Each invitation had a card in it saying what room to buy a gift for. We got something for every room of our house! So nice! John & Emily Grisham hosted at their home and they had their pool table full of our gifts. It was a very fun night with lots of fun memories...
With the hostesses...Christy, Emily, & Susan

Kody also had his bachelor party during June. I have no pictures, but they went paint balling, ate lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings, and were too tired from paint ball to do anything else, so surprisingly enough they stayed at his parents house and swam and BBQed...his party was more tame than mine! My mom and I spent that weekend painting our whole upstairs in our new house! It looked great afterwards...

The last weekend in June was a lot of fun. Kody and I traveled with his family to Rochester, NY for his cousin, Justin's wedding. What a beautiful place upstate New York is! It was the hottest weekend of the summer in West Plains and we enjoyed 70 degree weather with NO humidity. It was wonderful! They had their rehearsal dinner on the Erie Canal and their wedding at the University of Rochester Chapel. Then their reception was held at a Country Club...we had a great time and showed New York how to party! People from Jackson are the best at wedding receptions!

Congrats Justin & Ashley Hahs!
Kaci, Mallory, & Erica on the Erie Canal
Justin's restaurant, Hungry's...wish we could have eaten there!!!
The family minus Luke & Drew in Rochester, New York

Kody and I also got into gardening this summer and our garden was huge for first-timers....a little more than maybe we could handle???

Next post will be July-December!
