It's been awhile

I meant for this to be where I was talking about the cornice boards...but not sure how to do that yet...

Well, it's been a little more than a week since I've updated. Lots has happened, so this post could be rather lengthy...

John & Teresa were in town Thursday night. We visited for awhile but all of us went to bed fairly early. It's always so great to see them! Friday was Mom's birthday and we had planned a shopping trip to Springfield. We were in Springfield by 8:30 and shopped all day. We were mainly on a mission for her new bedding, bathroom mirrors, curtains or fabric for them, and bathroom accessories. Almost all of it got done, along with the most important part of the trip...our dresses for the wedding!

Friday night Teresa cooked everyone a birthday dinner for my Mom...it was yummy, baked chicken spaghetti. We visited but I was very tired from shopping til I nearly dropped. Saturday was my shower! Ashley really outdid herself. She had everything looking so nice. There were personalized "THOMPSON" napkins, favors with our pictures on them, and a picture cake. The good was good too...I love Cup O' Joe's spinach dip and fruit dip!!! SOOO much. :) I got a lot of nice things, lamps for our living room from my parents, our china platter from my Mama, Fiesta place settings from my aunts and cousins, gift cards, decor, and even a special wooden stool from my old babysitter! It's one of the stools she had made for us when we were little and we'd eat lunch on them each day. :) It was pretty neat. After the shower we went back to our house, unloaded and put away gifts, and worked on my cornice boards for our living room. They look fantastic and I love, love the way it's all turned out. The living room is pretty much DONE, except for a new tv, which we will get soon.

Saturday night we all went to TJ's for dinner...John & Teresa, Kody & Me, my parents, Brad & Susan, and Josh & Ashley! It was good and we all had fun. Afterwards we wanted to show John & Teresa, Ashley and Josh's house...we stayed out there awhile. We laughed and laughed out there. I love Ashley's house it's always SOOO clean and cute!

Sunday we went to church and then breakfast with my parents. After that we went home and they packed up and got ready to leave. They gave us our wedding card & present and were on there way. I'm always sad to see them go. Teresa will be back 3 weeks from Sunday...which it's now already like 2 1/2 weeks. YIKES! I finished the day off steaming curtains and cleaning the house. Just so my 3 boys can mess it up again!!!! Then Mom and I went for a walk and I crashed. It was a fun but busy weekend. This week hasn't been too eventful. RSVP's are due tomorrow and I have just finished a list of who we still haven't heard from and have tried contacting those people. What a job. FUN STUFF...not! There aren't extremely tons, just not a job anyone wants to do. Oh well....
I'm updating today for Jess. Miss ya girl, can't wait to see you in 23 days!!! Oh yeah, the official wedding countdown is on...24 days...hope they go by S-L-O-W!

Monday, Monday

The weekends just do not last long enough. It's already Monday again! Oh well, I'm looking forward to this week and this coming weekend. We had a nice, quiet weekend really. It rained the whole time, so that was a bummer....we did get to ride the motorcycle to dinner on Friday and meet up with my parents. We watched I Love You, Man and were not really impressed. I kept dozing off and Kody said it sucked. Saturday I worked at At Home Market and then we went to TJ's with Ashley & Josh. They cam back over and attempted to help me with my "wedding card box" but needless to stay it was a disaster! I found this cute picture of a card box that was different sized/shaped boxes from Hobby Lobby, wrapped in fabric, and then glued together to look like a wedding cake.....well after we nearly all killed ourselves with the hot glue gun, we decided to stop! Kody said he'd try to do it, but I don't know if it's going to work. We shall see, if anyone can do it, it'd be Kody.

Friday afternoon Mom and I met at the church to figure out where to set up candleabras, count the pews, and figure out how many pew bows we'd need. Then we worked on centerpieces for awhile. We have the wheat centerpieces DONE. :) YAY!!

Yesterday we slept way too late, but it was nice. We lounged around until about 1 and then got ready for Sam York's birthday party. He's 16! WOW!! Then Mom & Dad made ribs for the first time ever and they were awesome!!

Today I have a council meeting so my day will be long. We're going to Sam's JV football game after work so I won't even be home til after 8 or later...oh well!

Thursday night John & Teresa will be here!! Friday is Mom's bday and we're going to Springfield to shop it up! We've gotta pick up our dresses, shoes, my veil, and get some pictures framed. It will be a busy, but fun day. I LOVE TO SHOP!! Saturday is my last shower, it's just a girls shower so that should be fun. :)!!! I get to see friends too!

Well, better get busy. Have a good week!

Almost Friday!!

Thank goodness it's almost Friday. This week has been a busy one since I've been preparing for our City Council meeting on Monday. The week before the meetings are the busiest of the month for me. That's ok, it has gone by fast.

We went taste testing last night at Cafe 37. It was delicious and hard to choose, but we decided on pork tenderloin, green beans, roasted red potatoes, and salad. Hopefully everyone will be satisfied with that. We had originally decided on buffet style, but they assured me if they could deliver each plate to the seat it would take just about the same time and be more elegant. I hope it takes the same amount of time or LESS. We need to get onto the party! (But I definitely want everyone to eat so they don't get so toasty so fast!!)

Today Jason Aldean tickets went on pre-sale in WP for the concert in November. Ashley snagged us some and we're set to go! We'll get home from Jamaica on Monday November 2nd and be going to see Jason Aldean that Thursday on the 5th! I'm excited--so is Kody.

Tonight I have a planning and zoning meeting at 7, but I'm meeting some girlfriends before at Colton's for dinner. We're going to get to see Rorie, one of the new babies in my group. She's a cutie, I saw her in the hospital. Kody will probably "play" with his bow. He got it restrung and his tags last night and he's ready to go! I hope he gets something (deer/turkey/both), we could use the meat. A turkey would be nice for the holidays. Our house is getting thrown in the mix for Christmas w/ the Prewett's. Exciting! I believe we're doing it this year, if not next for sure.

Better get back to work...hope everyone has a great weekend!

Dog anyone??

Well tonight was supposed to be low-key, relaxing, and spent inside since it's been pouring here for awhile. I made chicken ranch tacos and had a yummy salad...we ate and Kody went outside (yes, in the rain) to try out his newly fixed bow. He came in and said there was a dog outside and she wouldn't go away. I went out and she is cute, but we do not need another dog, nor will we be able to keep her. I'm going to take her picture in the morning and have our newspaper publish it. I hope we can find her a good home. We can't afford another dog!! Ours eat us out of house & home! She's about 15 pounds and maybe a Shnauzer/Beagle mix? We honestly don't know. She had a collar on but didn't act like she belonged anywhere..................So if you'd love a friendly dog, let us know!!

Tomorrow we go to Cafe 37 to taste two different types of main courses for the wedding. I'm pumped, hope they are good but the decision is easy. And crap-fire we only have 38 days before the wedding. Lots of little details to do and time is running out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will get done though, at least I hope! ;)

Time for bed, let me know about the doggie!

Dinner Served!

Just had to brag a little and say that I came home with dinner made. Kody has Monday's off so usually I expect him to cook, but somehow he gets too busy and forgets or doesn't have the time. Well, he made pork chops on the grill, corn on the cob, fried okra, mashed potatoes, and homemade fresh peach cobbler! He enjoys cooking, especially breakfast meals but did a great job tonight... He also hung some new pictures I have been wanting hung and I didn't even have to ask! He's on a roll...

I took a nice long walk on this cloudy evening and then had a little cobbler! Now I'm anxiously awaiting the premier of the new Jay Leno show!! I love Leno!

That's all for tonight...just wanted to update again and try to get used to this! :)

First Try

A group of us breaking it down at Bel Air!
Me & Jess Ladd! Courtney Judd, Mallory, Jessica Johnson, & Ashley Hamby

Well this is my first try at a post. I love to read blogs and thought, why not have my own? I can keep friends & family updated on the big "marriage countdown" and then how life is after getting married. (Which I am sure will be great!) This past weekend was my bachelorette party. What a great time we had!! Friday my Mom, myself, and great friend (BFF ROSE) Ashley Hamby traveled to Jackson, MO. We stayed at Kody's parent's home and visited with them, and ate dinner at Stooges--a favorite in Jackson! We turned in pretty early that night since Saturday was a B-I-G Day!! Saturday Ashley & I started the day off with a pedicure, then picked up mom, met up with Kaci (sister-in-law to be/Kody's sister), Erica (sister-in-law to be/wife of Kody's brother), and Teresa (mother-in-law to be) for lunch, and then headed to the mall. We found a few good bargains and then headed back to Jackson to get ready, meet up with the rest of the girls, and go out!

Jessica Johnson, Courtney Judd, and Susan York drove over on Saturday. Kelli Schenimann and Jess Ladd met up with us and we all headed to Erica's house for a little present opening and some food & drinks before dinner. That was fun! Erica's house is beautiful and had it looking so nice! We had some YUMMY dip Kaci made and I got some cute presents too! ;)

Then we all packed in cars and headed downtown to eat at Bella Italia. Besides the girls all mentioned an old co-worker and friend Karen Stover met us, along with her daughter Shannon, and other friends Kaci Wright, Alexis, and Angela...and the infamous Aunt Susan. We had a blast eating and doing some "bachelorette" dares. LOL. Then we all headed down to Bel Air, where we stayed the entire night. The band was really good, the drinks were yummy, and we had too much fun dancing! Or at least I can speak for myself--I did!

Nobody got overly wild and the night ended about 2:30...funnn stuff! Sunday we were sleep deprived and ready to get home. I slept the afternoon away and went to bed early. What a FUN weekend. Thanks to everyone who was involved!!
